A free mobile gaming browser

Opera GX Mobile is a free mobile web browser designed specifically for mobile gaming. Developed by Opera Software, this is Opera GX’s mobile version and brings back some of the gaming browser’s popular features while introducing its own—some of which are optimizing for mobile use.

Opera GX Mobile’s scope has unfortunately been downsized compared to the PC version due to the capabilities of mobile devices. However, this doesn’t mean that it’s any less useful compared to Opera GX. It’s been designed for easy on-the-go gaming and even offers unique online protection.

Is Opera GX better than Opera?

First released in 1995, Opera is a multi-platform and Chromium-based browser by Opera Software. Its success over the years eventually led to the creation of a version that’s gaming-oriented—aptly called Opera GX. Compared to the original version, GX has unique features for mobile players’ benefit. Tools such as app integrations and CPU, RAM, and network limiters became its selling point against other browsers.

Like its competitors, Opera GX eventually offered a mobile version. Opera GX Mobile retains many of the original features. One of these is the GX Corner—your easy access to news and updates about the gaming world. Another cool feature is Flow, which can sync your mobile and PC browsers and lets you share media between them using QR codes. This is limited to media, though, and you can’t import bookmarks.

Meanwhile, the new features include the option for customizable one-handed navigation, which is called Fast Action Button or FAB. The app also comes with blockers for ads, pop-ups, cookie dialogs, and crypto-mining, as well as a selection of cool browser themes and a handy Dark Mode. However, fans of the performance booster settings from the PC version will be disappointed as it’s not available here.

Has a lot of potential

Overall, Opera GX Mobile is a great mobile version for Opera’s successful gaming counterpart. While it still has room for improvement in terms of bringing back old beloved features from the PC version, it has enough solid and handy features to keep users satisfied with its performance. Notably, its customization options and security features can rival that of other mobile browsers.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
